Success on the Menu

A Coleg Ceredigion Catering and Hospitality student recently gained a gold standard at the finals of the Skills Competition Wales Restaurant Service Competition.

Second year student, Beth Clark, competed in the Advanced Service competition, narrowly missing out on the top spot at the end of the day. Her hard work and high level of skill did however result in her being awarded the Gold Standard in recognition of her achievement. Beth had previously earned her place at the National Final having won the Central Wales heat of the competition earlier this year, and is the first Coleg Ceredigion student to have competed at the Advanced Level of this competition.

Beth is looking forward to returning to Coleg Ceredigion in September  to complete the Level 3 Hospitality and Catering course, and is eligible to  enter the competition again next year. Her hard work and determination was also recognised at the Annual Coleg Ceredigion Awards Ceremony this year as she received the award for Best Student for the Level 1 Diploma in Food Production and Service for 2010-11.

Food Service Lecturer, Bill Mousley commented “We are very pleased with Beth’s performance at the competition. She has worked very hard throughout the year, and will serve as a good role model to other students who wish to follow in her footsteps”.
