Our hair and beauty salons are exceptional and allow you to train and work in a commercial salon environment, working on members of the public on a weekly basis. You will also have the opportunity to attend: trade shows, seminars, workshops as well as organised sector related trips and taking part in competitions. 

Once you have completed the course, you can progress onto level 3 Beauty. This course will also prepare you for industry and give you the skills required to work in salons, spas, department stores, hotels and cruise ships.Many students from Coleg Ceredigion have gone on to set up their own businesses or work for spas in their local area and further afield. This is an excellent course which provides you with the opportunity to hone your customer service skills, to work with the general public and to build up a good reputation and client base. 

You will be assessed practically in the salon and you will need to take unit tests to demonstrate your knowledge in the above subjects.

4 GCSEs grades A* - D with 2 Cs, one being either English/Welsh (1st language) or Maths. Or successful completion of L1 vocational qualification in relevant subject. Mature learners without qualifications may be accepted subject to successful interview.

All learners will follow a Skills Pathway in which they will develop their literacy and numeracy skills for employment. Students who do not yet have the necessary GCSE grades at C or above will have additional teaching and support to study for either GCSE or Essential Skills Qualifications depending on prior GCSE grades.

It is a requirement of the course to purchase a beauty tunic and beauty kit.

All learners are required to pay an administration fee of £25.00 prior to enrolment.

You will need to provide your own stationery, and may also incur costs if the department arranges educational visits.
