Programme Description

A blocked airway can kill someone in three to four minutes, but it can take more than eight minutes for an ambulance to arrive. So a simple procedure such as opening someone’s airway can save their life whilst waiting for emergency help to arrive. First aid can save lives.

This course will help develop your knowledge of the role and responsibilities of a first aider and how to assess an incident. Learners will also learn first aid skills in CPR and use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator), providing first aid to a casualty who is choking and dealing with external bleeding and hypovolaemic shock.

This course is assessed by practical assessment and questioning and upon successful completion learners will be equipped with the essential skills needed to give safe, prompt and effective first aid in emergency situations.
