Programme Description

A study found that 59% of deaths that happened in workplaces could have been prevented with trained first aiders. A fast response of a first aider could be the difference between life and death. Even for non-fatal injuries, the severity and recovery period can be reduced by administering first aid.

This course covers the roles and responsibilities of the first aider, how to assess an incident and recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness. Learners will cover first aid skills in CPR and the use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator). As well as, assisting a casualty who is suffering from major injury and illness such as chest injuries, spinal injuries and anaphylaxis.

This course is assessed through practical observation and questioning and after successful completion learners will be armed with the knowledge and skills to administer a wide variety of first aid techniques in the workplace with confidence from treating minor wounds to saving the lives of colleagues in life-threatening situations.
