From college to McLaren – Abraham Reynolds.

After finishing his AS levels at Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi, Abraham Reynolds enrolled on a motorsports engineering level three course at Coleg Ceredigion.

With a passion for cars, Abraham studied the course due to its reputation for combining academic work with practical skills. “The workshop at the college later became the place of my passion for mechanics.” he said.

After leaving Coleg Ceredigion, Abraham studied a HND in motorsport engineering at University of Wales Trinity Saint David before completing a master’s degree in advanced engine design with a first class honours.

During the final year of his master’s degree, Abraham worked on a project for McLaren researching crankshaft design which led to an interview and he successfully gained work as a powertrain design engineer.

Abraham states: “I’m very thankful to Coleg Ceredigion and my time there opened the door to a world of opportunity and achievements that I previously never thought possible.

“Without the facilities available in the Motor Vehicle department, I doubt I would have had the enthusiasm to continue my studies in the subject."

“I’m also grateful to the tutors as well for all of their support and without it I doubt that I would have got the required UCAS points to progress to university or to have the enthusiasm to work so hard.”
