Frequently Asked Questions.

We hope this information helps you. If you’re unable to find the answer to your question, please email enquiries@colegceredigion.ac.uk and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

What courses do you offer?

We offer a wide range of full time vocational programmes. We also offer apprenticeships, part time programmes of study and short courses.

What can I do when I have finished my course?

Many of our learners progress to university, in Wales and further afield. All learners are supported with their UCAS applications through one-to-one tutorials and a bespoke support programme.

The college also helps learners into employment, and we have developed excellent links with industry. We offer apprenticeship routes in a wide range of sectors.

Careers guidance is available through tutorials, one-to-one interviews, and via Careers Wales.

What are UCAS points and what do they mean?

UCAS Tariff points translate your qualifications and grades into a numerical value. Many qualifications (but not all) have a UCAS Tariff value, which will vary dependent on the qualification size, and the grade you achieved.

Some universities, colleges, and conservatoires refer to UCAS Tariff points in their course entry requirements, but this doesn’t mean they won’t consider qualifications that don’t appear on the Tariff, so it’s advisable to check the course entry requirements carefully.

You can look up your UCAS Tariff points by finding your qualifications on the UCAS Tariff point calculator via the following website https://www.ucas.com/ucas/tariff-calculator

What are your policies regarding conduct and attendance?

Policies relating to the Code of Conduct, Disciplinary System, Attendance and Absence Monitoring Procedures can be found here.

Does the college provide any an extra support to learners?

We pride ourselves on the level of support available. We have a team of trained mentors and counsellors to provide 1:1 confidential support on a range of wellbeing issues.

We also provide support for learning for people with Additional Needs.  This support includes 1:1 specialist teaching, providing exam concessions, classroom LSA support and help with specialist equipment and software.

If learners have had support in school, it is more than likely we can provide this during their time in college. This support could include:

  • 1:1 or group support with a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) in class
  • Additional time for external examinations/assessments
  • Dyslexia support and guidance
  • Mentoring and counselling support
  • A quiet area during the day

If you have any queries or require further guidance, please contact our Assistant Director of Learning & Wellbeing, julia.green@colegsirgar.ac.uk

Does the college provide financial support?

Students may be able to apply for funding via Student Finance Wales depending on their age, mode of study and household income. Schemes include Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) for 16-18 year olds, Welsh Government Learning Grant (WGLG) for 19+ year olds and schemes for Higher Education (HE) students via grant and loans. Please view their website www.studentfinancewales.co.uk to find out more. Application forms are available on all campuses and HE students can make an online application via Student Finance Wales.

Further Education Students (FE) may also be able to apply for funding via the College's Financial Contingency Fund (FCF) for help with costs such as essential course costs, childcare costs, disclosure barring service fee (DBS) and travel. This fund is also dependent on household income and application forms are available on all campuses.

Visit our student fiannce page for more information.

Does the college have any clubs or activities for students?

The college has a variety of clubs and activities, which are run depending on demand. More information regarding clubs is available from the campus office.

Does the college have a Students' Union?

The college has a Students' Union with officers participating in elections for President in May and other officer roles in October each year. The officers represent the student body at all levels including the Board of Governors. Their mission is to make a difference and to work with all students to make change happen.
