This Level 1 diploma introduces students to carpentry and joinery skills. It allows students to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in carpentry or joinery. You will produce a variety of carpentry related woodworking joints used in the industry and safely use various hand and power tools. Principals of building construction, information and communication units will also provide you with an introduction to construction technology
This course is designed to develop the skills and knowledge of students enabling them to work in the industry of their chosen craft. It has been specifically developed for delivery in a training environment using simulated conditions and the tests are based on the learner showing what they can do as an individual. The college provides a large open plan facility equipped with the latest technology allowing a wide range of industry specific tasks to be undertaken.
The course is delivered by highly qualified and experienced staff using modern facilities.
Progression opportunities include apprenticeships or a full time level two diploma qualification that will provide further development and understanding of the construction industry.
A variety of assessment methods are used which include written knowledge questions, online and practical skills tests.
No formal entry requirements, however a practical aptitude is an advantage. Entry is subject to successful interview.
All learners are required to pay an administration fee of £45.00 prior to enrolment.
