This full-time programme provides an entry-learning route into the maintenance of light vehicles and other roles available in the retail motor industry.
The courses uses engaging and motivating qualifications that combine both skills and knowledge.
During the programme you will learn to maintain and repair different types of vehicles, such as cars and vans, fit and replace parts and tyres and work on hybrid vehicles safely.
As a full-time learner, you will be expected to attend college three days a week for underpinning knowledge and practical assessment sessions.
Progression from this programme would be onto a level two automotive course, working towards becoming a fully qualified automotive technician.
All learners will follow a Skills Pathway in which they will develop their literacy and numeracy skills for employment.
Units are assessed practically in the workshop through observation of working practices and through written and on-line tests for the theory knowledge.
GCSE grades A*-G in English or Welsh (1st Language), Maths and Science will be an advantage.
You may be required to undertake a practical skills test as part of the interview process
All learners are required to pay an administration fee of £45.00 prior to enrolment.
You will need to provide your own stationery, and may also incur costs if the department arranges educational visits
