This is a two-year Level 3 programme which aims to provide the learner with the opportunity to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills in a variety of subject areas related to the public services.
It will provide the learner with a realistic view of public services as a rewarding working environment.Programme content includes five mandatory units and optional units which will enable you to develop knowledge and understanding of areas such as Crime and Law, as well as units which allow opportunities to carry out research into Public Services’ careers that are of particular interest to you.
BTEC Level 3 Nationals in Public Services enable learners to develop transferable skills, providing opportunities for progress to higher level qualifications such as Degrees or Higher National Diplomas. Careers directly related to the Diploma and Extended Diploma would include Police Officer, Fire Fighter, Paramedic, member of HM Forces, HM Revenue and Customs, community service organisations and emergency service related organisations.
All learners will follow a Skills Pathway in which they will develop their literacy and numeracy skills for employment. Students who do not yet have the necessary GCSE grades at C or above will have additional teaching and support to study for either GCSE or Essential Skills Qualifications depending on prior GCSE grades.
Continuous assessment, monitoring of coursework and assignments count towards the final award.
5 GCSEs at grades A*-C, which includes either English Language or Welsh (1st Language) and Maths. Or successful completion of L2 qualification in a relevant vocational subject at Merit or above.
All applicants are assessed on an individual basis and will be offered the opportunity to attend an interview for the course.
All learners are required to pay an administration fee of £45.00 prior to enrolment.
