Be Connected

As a student at Coleg Sir Gâr and Coleg Ceredigion, you are automatically members of our Students’ Union.

This means that you can take full advantage of everything we have to offer, including college events, student representation and information on student life.

Our job is to make sure you have a great experience during your time at college and that students are fully represented and their views are heard.

In order to represent you properly as learners it’s important that we are guided by your ideas and experiences.

Let us know what you think by getting in touch with one of your elected student officers, course representatives or the Students’ Union president by emailing the Students’ Union at studentunion@colegsirgar.ac.uk

We believe that student representation and views are critical to the success of Coleg Sir Gâr and Coleg Ceredigion and by becoming part of the officer team, you will represent students across all campuses.

The president will take a place at the highest level and become a member of the college Corporate Board.  This opportunity will give students a chance to share their views and opinions with college leaders.  As well as giving you the opportunity to develop your skills, you will be able to include the experience of becoming an officer on your UCAS personal statement and job applications, making you stand out from the crowd.

Respectful

The college Students’ Union has a history of award-winning campaigns such as Period Poverty (2019).

The SU team were integral in lobbying for "My Travel Pass" and as a result this scheme was extended and included those aged 16-21, these efforts resulted in an award by NUS Wales for FE Institution of the Year in 2018, runners up in 2019 along with Education Award for Respect Champions in 2019.

We were proud to see  one of our previous presidents Ebbi Ferguson elected as the Deputy President of NUS Wales 2015-17.

NUS Extra/Totum Cards

All students are entitled to purchase a student discount or Totum card, which will cost £14.99 a year (or currently £24.99 for 3 years) and can give you savings on travel, clothes, entertainment and much more.  For more information you should contact the Student Liaison Officer at your campus, click on the Totum image at the top of this page or visit: https://www.totum.com

Clubs & Societies

There are a number of clubs and society groups led by students that get together to share their common interests and they are a great way to meet new people.

Information will be placed around the campuses advertising what is happening and where. If you don’t see a society of interest then why not set up your own?

You can set up a club or society for almost anything, you can then attract members and the support of the Students’ Union who may be able to help you with some funding to carry out your activities.

The college Wellbeing Team  will be able to help put you in touch with the right people to get things started so if you have some ideas, please share them.  Here are some of the groups currently running:
