Level 2 Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery and NVQ in Wood Occupations

Programme Description

This Level 2 diploma develops 1st and 2nd fix carpentry skills along with maintenance activities and circular saw use.

It allows students to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in carpentry or joinery.

You will complete a variety of carpentry related tasks that are undertaken in industry and safely use various hand and power tools. Principles of building construction, information and communication units will also provide you with an introduction to construction technology.

Programme Features

This course is designed to develop the skills and knowledge of students enabling them to work in the industry in their chosen craft.

It has been specifically developed for delivery in a training environment using simulated conditions and the tests are based on the learner showing what they can do as an individual.

The course is delivered by highly qualified and experienced staff using modern facilities.

The department has a wide range of Festool power tools and a very well-equipped machine shop including a CNC machine.

Progression & Employment

Students will be able to progress onto an apprenticeship programme subject to interview and this will provide further development and understanding of the construction industry.

Programme Assessment

A variety of assessment methods are used which include written knowledge questions, online and practical skills tests.

Programme Entry Requirements

Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery, and a successful interview. You should also be employed in the Construction Industry.

Additional Costs

Students will need a pair of safety boots, pencil and a measuring tape.
