Coleg Sir Gar, together with Coleg Ceredigion and University of Wales Trinity St David, form the region’s largest provider for workforce training. The group offer a diverse range of training programmes supporting individuals, sole traders, small private companies, large multi-national organisations and the public sector both in Wales and internationally.
What courses will benefit me or my business?
Our ‘Training Courses’ page offers a small sample of the most popular training courses that we offer. In reality we offer far too many courses and options to simply list in one place. By introducing yourself via the contact us form below, one of our dedicated team of employment engagement officers will make contact to discuss your unique business needs in order to develop a range of exciting and diverse training solutions which are underpinned by your own personal or business objectives.
Certified or Accredited?
We offer a huge range of nationally recognised qualifications which are underpinned by either vendor certification or awarding body accreditation. These include, for example PRINCE2 and CIMA, AAT as well as awarding bodies such as ILM, City and Guilds and Highfield to ensure your training is both quality assured, transferable and recognised by industry.
Bespoke Training?
The most important thing is to ensure you invest wisely in yourself or your business. Our team of Business Development Officer will conduct a skills analysis of you or your workforce and help identify solutions that meet your needs and budget. In many cases a bespoke solution is the prefered option whereby you and/or your employees engage with a number of carefully selected modules that meet your exact needs. By tweaking a small selection of existing modules from recognised qualifications we will deliver a focused training plan without the burden of a lengthy qualification.
Where can I study?
Coleg Sir Gar and Coleg Ceredigion are part of the University of Wales Trinity St David Group and together offer training opportunities in Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Swansea. In addition to on-campus training we also conduct training and assessment at your place of work, anywhere in Wales.
Can I study Online?
Yes, we offer a range of training options including face to face, online and blended (ie face to face and online). Online study is becoming more popular and offers a number of advantages including; 51 week start dates, access 24/7, support from a real tutor via email and telephone, flexibility to fit around existing commitments and zero travel costs.
Online learning is also better for the environment with no co2 generated from road travel and in most cases online courses are supported by paperless interactive course material.
One of the main advantages of online learning is the ability to enrol 51 weeks of the year, in fact in some cases, such as Food Safety Level 2 you can enrol, study and complete your course all in the same day! (Hyperlink to virtual college)
New Course Development
We don’t just deliver existing qualifications. We work with local business and government to develop new qualifications which will ensure Wales continues to grow and develop in the 21st century. During 2018 we have developed new qualifications in Fenestration, for the Window Glass sector, qualifications in Health Informatics, to support the health service transition into a new age of digital patient records, level 4 CPD qualifications for those working in Animal Care and also Medical Gas training for those working in the care sector. During 2019 we will continue to work closely with employers and skills development agencies to identify new qualifications, so please contact us if you have an idea or requirement for training in an area that does not yet exist!
Can I access Funding?
Our funding page will explain more, however in some cases we may be able to provide funding or signpost you to a partner organisation who can access funding on your behalf. Funding is subject to eligibility, however where funding is available you may be entitled to part or full support upon the full completion of your training programme or qualification
Do I have to work or live in Wales?
No, a large percentage of our online learners live outside of Wales, and we also work in partnership with national organisations to deliver CPD in England and further afield. We are currently translating our Health Informatics programme into Mandarin and have significant experience delivering training as far as Asia and the USA.
