The Diploma offers learners the opportunity to study a range of units from different sectors in the suite, supporting progression on to further study. Learners will gain a good grounding in the different subject areas we offer at the college so that they can make a informed decision as to what they wish to pursue in depth the following year.
The course is suitable for learners who wish to gain confidence in further education study and for those who are unsure as to the exact subject area they wish to study full-time.
The Pearson BTEC Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Vocational Studies is designed around practical skills and tasks that place an emphasis on learners demonstrating what they can do rather than what they know in theory. The qualification gives learners the opportunity to acquire and develop generic, transferable and sector-specific skills in order to complete tasks and demonstrate a level of achievement that enables them to progress to further learning.
This qualification has a core of underpinning knowledge, skills and understanding, and a range of options to reflect the breadth of pathways within this sector. Learner progression could include further study on a Level 1 or 2 course, an apprenticeship or employment. The level of progression will depend on the overall grade achieved in the qualification.
All units are internally assessed – giving learners the opportunity to demonstrate skills developed in applied scenarios and there is a range of assessment styles suited to individual needs. All units are graded to encourage skills development and performance.
