NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy

Programme Description



If you are looking to start a career within the beauty industry, this is an exciting course, which will enable you to work with the public in our state-of-the-art salon facility, Academi Steil, which is a fully functional commercial salon. You will learn and develop practical skills in the following: manicures; pedicures; facials; waxing; health and safety; eye treatments; (tinting, shaping & individual eyelashes); make-up; reception. You will also study anatomy and physiology to gain underpinning knowledge of the above units.


Programme Features



Our hair and beauty salons are exceptional and allow you to train and work in a commercial salon environment, working on members of the public on a weekly basis. You will also have the opportunity to attend: trade shows, seminars, workshops as well as organised sector related trips and taking part in competitions. 


Progression & Employment



Once you have completed the course, you can progress onto level 3 Beauty. This course will also prepare you for industry and give you the skills required to work in salons, spas, department stores, hotels and cruise ships.Many students from Coleg Ceredigion have gone on to set up their own businesses or work for spas in their local area and further afield. This is an excellent course which provides you with the opportunity to hone your customer service skills, to work with the general public and to build up a good reputation and client base. 


Programme Assessment



You will be assessed practically in the salon and you will need to take unit tests to demonstrate your knowledge in the above subjects.


Programme Entry Requirements



Applicants must be 16 or over on admission to the course, successfully attend an interview with the course tutor. You need a commitment to working with the public in a salon environment and a positive attitude to studying.It is a requirement of the course to purchase a beauty tunic and beauty kit. Maths and English GCSEs at grade C are desirable for this course.
