The screener forms part of the learning support induction process and can be accessible by using assistive technology. It is a structured process but for those who want to share individual barriers to learning, the system allows them to dig deeper and confidently share their learning profile, allowing teachers to build inclusivity into their lesson plans.
Julia Green, assistant director for learning experience and learning support at Coleg Sir Gâr and Coleg Ceredigion said: “We are very proud of the screening programme we have developed and thrilled to be recognised for the sector-leading work involved.
“The bilingual screener is an easily navigated system which allows for an understanding of personal characteristics which gives teachers an insight into each individual learner and allows them to understand how to assist and support them in their learning environment.
“Our screening questionnaire can identify physical and neurodiverse learning needs which will ultimately feedback and vastly improve their learning experience for students at college.”
