A Coleg Ceredigion student has been selected for Welsh Colleges women’s football team and will represent Wales this year.
Kelsey Thomas who is studying sport and outdoor activities recalls the moment she received the exciting email from Colleges Wales Sport explaining she’s been chosen for the squad and says it was a ‘was a very proud moment for myself and my family.”
In February Kelsey will be joining the Welsh squad to compete in the international tournament in Rome against England.
Kelsey said: “When I received the email saying I was in the squad for the trip to play England and to go to Italy it was amazing, and when I was informed that I was first football player ever to study at Coleg Ceredigion and be selected for Wales, it was such proud moment for me, the college and my family.
“I am now looking forward to meeting back up with the squad to prepare for upcoming fixtures and will be giving 100% for Coleg Ceredigion and Welsh Colleges women’s football team.”
Kelsey’s ambitions don’t stop there, as she has many dreams and hopes for the future. She said:“Winning women's premier league and Welsh cup with Swansea ladies at the age 16 has been a fantastic moment for me as a footballer and being a swans fan made the moment special. Also representing Wales playing England and scoring is something I will remember forever.
“My ambition would be to become pro and play at the highest level in football. The English premier league is the target and I'd also like to play abroad at some point in future. I would also like to remain part of the Wales college squad while studying in Wales.”
