Four Coleg Ceredigion beauty therapy students will soon be finding out if they are through to the WorldSkills UK national final.
They will be competing in the regional qualifiers for WorldSkills UK Skills Beauty Practitioner in Walsall where they will all be tested on their skills including client care, professionalism, health and safety and they will be time checked on some of the tasks.
Emily Jenkins and Ruby Rees will be competing in the level two category and Keira Rogers and Donna Griffiths in level three.
For level two, the tasks include hot underarm wax, preparation of the skin, removal of hairs and aftercare products as well as an eyebrow tint, colour selection, French polish, file, cuticle work and application.
The level three brief includes pre-cleaning the back, exfoliation, back massage. A facial treatment cleanse, skin analysis, facial massage, mask, tone and moisturise.
All competitors have an hour and a half to complete their briefs, working to exceptionally high standards of skills and professionalism.
Donna Griffiths has already achieved Skills Competition Wales bronze medal and Keira Rogers a silver medal and If they qualify to compete at the UK national final in November they may have the opportunity of progressing their skills to compete for a place in the WorldSkills UK team.
Roma Morgan, course coordinator for beauty therapy at Coleg Ceredigion said: “We are thrilled to be involved in these competitions, it really does encourage and promote professional industry skills and helps our students reach their full potential and believe in themselves.”
