Joinery students to compete at UK level.

Two Coleg Ceredigion students have recently qualified to compete at the UKSkills final, called UK Live, which takes place this November.

Tom Powell The competition, held at Birmingham’s NEC will see level three joinery student Tom Powell, who claimed first place at the Welsh regional final and fellow joinery student Osian Davies, who claimed second place in the same event, compete for a UK title.

Tom, who works for Rose Castle Joinery  will be familiar with the UK stage having claimed silver at the event last year whilst for Osian, it will be the first experience for the Steve James Joinery employee.

Curriculum Manager Huw Thomas said: “We’re very proud of both Tom and Osian. They worked extremely hard during the course of the competition and their completed projects consisted of very high quality workmanship.

“We’re thrilled that both have done enough to qualify to the next and we wish them all the best up in Birmingham.”
