College campus becomes training facility
Coleg Ceredigion’s Aberystwyth campus is currently being used as a training facility by the NHS.
Following a request from the Hywel Dda Local Health Board, the campus is currently being used to deliver essential training for staff and volunteers who will be coming into the NHS to work in hospitals over the coming months.
In a bid to tackle the Covid-19, the Hywel Dda Trust training and development team have been making use of the college’s teaching rooms and IT equipment in order to deliver their training.
Given the current health crisis, the college agreed that the site can be used for this purpose as a contribution to the NHS's fight against Coronavirus and to support the local community.
According to Jilian Michael, education facilitator for healthcare support workers for Hywel Dda: “It's been a fantastic opportunity for the new candidates coming through to have theory and practical sessions in a safe environment as we prepare them with the knowledge and skills to go out into their clinical practice.
“I'd like to thank the staff and management team at Coleg Ceredigion for their readiness to provide us with these quality training facilities and for all their help and support in ensuring that we have had access to all the teaching rooms and IT equipment needed for us to carry out this essential training.
