Message from the Principal - Existing Learners

Hello everyone,

I am sure many of you will have seen the Minister for Education announce developments in education over the last week. In particular, the Welsh Government have announced some minor easing of restrictions for colleges, in order for them to undertake some essential work in the areas of assessment for qualifications and support for learners. Colleges across Wales have the opportunity to open some campuses, albeit very cautiously and safely from June 15th 2020.

I can confirm that we are planning a phased approach to re-open campuses across Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion for the specific purpose of essential assessment and support from Monday June 22nd 2020. Most of the learning and support that the College operates will continue online and there will be no need for the vast majority of learners to attend campuses.

Attendance on campuses by learners will be by invitation only for the purposes of assessment and support. You will be contacted by the College via email if you fall into one or both of the categories identified.

This cautious approach will allow all staff and learners on each campus to operate in a safe and controlled environment.

The College will operate under the latest guidance provided by the Welsh Government at all times and will follow operational protocols that have been agreed across the FE sector, with teaching and support unions and staff at the College.

Your progression is very important to us, in order that you fulfil your potential and achieve the goals you have set. Many of you will want to progress to higher levels of learning at the College. If this is the case, please make sure you discuss your next steps with your tutors and apply for your next course as soon as possible.

Above all, your safety and wellbeing are of paramount importance to us.

Be safe and kind

Andrew Cornish
