University places for catering students

Three catering students from Coleg Ceredigion’s Cardigan campus have successfully gained places to study at university this September.

Callum Summerfield and Erin Buckland will study a BA in international hotel management at University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s Swansea campus, while Isla Moody gained a place at University College Birmingham to study a foundation degree in bakery and patisserie technology.

All three students studied the level one, two and three professional cookery and food and beverage service courses.  Callum and Isla also completed the GCSE school link from Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn for two years before studying full time.

Huw Morgan, level three course tutor said: “Yet again our students have excelled in their studies and have shown the drive and the determination needed to gain places at universities.

“The link we have with Swansea UWTSD is strong, with places being offered to our students consistently over the years.

“This highlights, once again, the route that students can take through further education on to higher education when studying courses at Coleg Ceredigion.

“Some choose to go into full time employment after completing their courses with us, others decide to peruse a higher education degree.

“We are very proud of all our students who are important to the local economy, as well as being the future of the hospitality and tourism industry both locally and nationally.

“The very best of luck to Callum, Isla and Erin at their chosen Universities.”
