Childcare students experience in Germany

Childcare students from both Aberystwyth and Cardigan campuses recently returned home following a two-week work placement in Germany as part of the Erasmus+ project.

During their time aboard, students worked at various kindergartens in the university city of Jena, putting into practise everything they’ve learned on their childcare course.

In their free time, students had the opportunity to explore the city; some of the attractions visited included the planetarium and the Jena Tower.

In preparations for their trip, students undertook German lessons and learnt about German culture.

According to childcare lecturer Sarah Evans: “The students thoroughly enjoyed their time in Jena.  They interacted well with staff and children from the kinder gardens and learned a lot about German culture.   The experience that they gained will certainly aid their studies.”

Cardigan campus childcare students will benefit from the Erasmus+ project again next year as they’ll be visiting Barcelona on a similar trip.

Erasmus+ project is a European Commission’s education and lifelong learning funding stream.  The project funds exchange visits for students to various European countries.
