First class honours for former childcare student

Former Coleg Ceredigion childcare student Lisa Evans has recently graduated from University of Wales Trinity Saint David, gaining a first class honours in childcare studies.

Before gaining a place at university, Lisa studied a level three childcare course at the college’s Aberystwyth campus.

Lisa Evans said: “Studying the childcare course enabled me to develop necessary skills in order to gain a place at university and to be able to succeed.

“I was very fortunate to be able to study the course through the medium of Welsh, which is something that was important to me.”

Lisa currently works at a local nursery and is saving in order to fund her gap year.  Looking towards the future, Lisa says that she intends to study a master’s degree in child development before studying a PGCE.

Allison Davies, head of creativity and care at Coleg Ceredigion said: “We as a department are over the moon to hear about Lisa’s university success, although we’re not surprised considering how hard she worked at the college.

“We wish her all the best in the future and have no doubt that she’ll make an excellent teacher once she’s undertaken her PGCE.”
