A master in art
A former Coleg Ceredigion art and design student has recently gained a master’s degree in contemporary design crafts.
Kathryn Ayres studied a level three extended diploma in art and design at the college’s Aberystwyth campus before progressing to study a bachelor degree in contemporary design crafts at Hereford College of Arts.
During her second year, Kathryn became aware of her passion for ceramics and after graduating decided to study a master’s degree at Hereford College of Arts as she felt creatively, she was merely scratching the surface of her new found passion.
Kathryn said: “Studying at Coleg Ceredigion helped my career path as it was a place that nurtured my small shy creative voice.
“My tutors were nothing short of amazing, they were instrumental in enabling my creative and personal successes and were very supportive when deciding my next step after college.
“I was very lucky to have been a part of the community at Coleg Ceredigion and there is no denying that without the support, care and encouragement they provided, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
Looking to the future, Kathryn states that there are many things she’d like to accomplish in her creative career.
Kathryn and her partner are currently in the process of setting up their own business, combining their passion for ceramics and beekeeping.
