Dogs visit college for petography session

Coleg Ceredigion’s level two IT students recently welcomed Dexter and Jupiter to the college’s IT lab at its Cardigan campus.

The two canines, belonging to student Jac Davies, visited the college to be used as models for Jac’s petography session.

Students were tasked with creating animated Christmas e-cards as part of their computer animation unit and while some decided to create animations which included snowmen and animated animals, Jac decided to bring still images of his dogs to life.

Using state of the art equipment in the college’s purpose-built green screen studio, Jac captured images of the dogs to create his animated Christmas e-cards.

The session gave students the opportunity to put into practice the different animation techniques they’ve learned.

Coleg Ceredigion course lecturer Marion Phillips said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Dexter and Jupiter to the campus.

“It was a great experience for Jac and I’m sure all the students enjoyed having the dogs in the department.

“Creating animations such as interactive e-cards is an excellent opportunity for the students to put into practice a variety of animation techniques that they’ve learned in the classroom, techniques which will serve them well for the rest of their studies and beyond.”
