MOT (Ministry of Transport) is a mandatory vehicle inspection program in the United Kingdom that ensures vehicles meet safety and environmental standards.

Owning a vehicle means it is required to have an MOT test every year. This applies to many vehicles including motorcycles, cars, heavy goods vehicles to name just a few. This MOT test helps ensure that vehicles are roadworthy and safe to drive.

To ensure learners are fully equipped to carry out MOT testing various topics are covered in this course. These include relevant acts and regulations, tools for the job, when you can refuse to begin a test, use of the testing manual, standards and procedures. As well as, documentation and security, use of the online MOT testing service, routine inspection and classes of vehicle.

This comprehensive course allows learners to gain the knowledge, skill and confidence to carry out MOT testing. Delivered by highly trained and experienced automotive experts giving learners the best learning experience possible.

Who is it for?

This course is designed for motor vehicle technicians currently working within the industry who wish to become qualified in MOT testing.

Entry Requirements

To qualify for this course learners must already have a level three motor vehicle qualification or equivalent and have a full and current UK driving licence for the vehicle class they wish to test. Learners must also have at least four years as a skilled full time employed motor vehicle technician. Carrying out services and repair of the vehicle types they wish to test.

Progression and Employment

On successful completion of this course learners will be qualified as an MOT tester, achieving the National Occupational Standard. Once a certificate of completion has been awarded the learner is able to apply to the DVSA to be authorised as an MOT tester.
