MOT (Ministry of Transport) is a mandatory vehicle inspection program in the United Kingdom that ensures vehicles meet safety and environmental standards.
The Vehicle Technician Accredited Assessment (VTAA) recognises the equivalent of a level three knowledge and skills for technicians who do not hold a formal qualification. The accreditation enables motor vehicle technicians who have worked in their roles for four or more years to prove their capabilities at level three.
This course is an alternative to the IMI Light Vehicle Inspection Technician and is for technicians who are involved in the inspection, maintenance and repair of light vehicles. After completion of the course, learners will be able to calibrate emission test equipment before testing a vehicle, accurately inspect a vehicle, diagnose faults and correct repair requirements. Learners will gain knowledge of the appropriate wiring diagram required for the electrical systems of the vehicle being tested and have the skills to apply it.
This is a certificated course recognised by DVSA as a pre-entry accreditation to become an MOT tester.
Who is it for?
The VTAA course is for individuals that are skilled in the motor trade but have no formal qualifications. This course is to help technicians without a level three qualification to become qualified and proceed onto the MOT testers course.
Individuals must be working at a level three standard and it is necessary to have a minimum of four years of experience working in a garage and a basic understanding of MOT Testing.
