You will be shown how to carry out various industry standard practical procedures which include tasks such as fault code diagnostics, transmission and driveline faults and MOT checks/procedures.
You will be assessed carrying out these tasks, where you are required to compile a practical portfolio.
The theory is broken down into five various units which include:
- Diagnosis/rectification of engine faults
- Chassis faults
- Transmission and driveline faults
- Auxiliary and electrical faults
- Electric Vehicle operations.
These are then followed by five online multi choice tests, which are spread out throughout the academic year.
You will also follow a skills pathway in which you will develop your literacy and numeracy skills for employment. Students who do not yet have the necessary GCSE grades at C or above will have additional teaching and support to study for either GCSE or Essential Skills qualifications depending on prior GCSE grades.
