Beauty therapy is a career that is very diverse as it can lead to roles in salons, spas, cruise ships and hotels.

If you are looking to start a career within the beauty industry, this is an exciting course, which will enable you to work with the public in our state-of-the-art salon facility, Academi Steil, which is a fully functional commercial salon. 

You will learn and develop practical skills in the following: monitor procedures to safely control work

operations, provide body massage treatments, contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities, Indian head massage, hot stone massage and pre-blended aromatherapy massage, facial electricals.  You will also study anatomy and physiology to gain underpinning knowledge of the above units. 

Programme Features

Our hair and beauty salons are exceptional and allow you to train and work in a commercial salon environment, working on members of the public on a weekly basis. You will also have the opportunity to attend: trade shows, seminars, workshops as well as organised sector related trips and taking part in competitions. 

Progression and Employment

This course will prepare you for industry and give you the skills required to work in salons, spas, department stores, hotels, cruise ships, as well as self-employment. Many students from Coleg Ceredigion have gone on to set up their own businesses or work for spas in their local area and further afield. This is an excellent course which provides you with the opportunity to hone your customer service skills, to work with the general public and to build up a good reputation and client base.

Method of assessment

You will be assessed practically in the salon and you will need to take unit tests to demonstrate your knowledge in the above subjects.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must have completed a level two diploma in beauty therapy and successfully attend an interview with the course tutor. You need a commitment to working with the public in a salon environment and a positive attitude to studying. It is a requirement of the course to purchase a beauty tunic and beauty kit.

Additional Costs

It is a requirement of the course to purchase a beauty tunic and beauty kit. All learners are required to pay an administration fee of £25  prior to enrolment. You will need to provide your own stationery, and may also incur costs if the department arranges educational visits.
