Interested in working in the IT sector but not sure where to start?

This qualification gives you a flavour of a wide range of opportunities within the sector. 

If you are looking for a practical, vocational route to a career in IT this course is just right for you. Available at both Level 2 and Level 3, the course will enhance your employability by developing the skills you need to excel in a wide range of technologies. Students who successfully complete the Level 2 qualification generally progress to the Level 3 course and into higher education and employment.

Programme Features

Our L2 programme aims to develop your understanding and skills of the essentials of IT and cyber security. You will gain insight into the IT sector as you investigate the pace of technological change, IT infrastructures on a global scale and the importance of legal and security considerations.

Progression and Employment

The majority of learners use this course to prepare them to move to the L3 Extended Diploma in IT and then on to Higher Education. Others choose an alternative route to further study pathways or full-time employment.

Method of assessment

A broad range of centre-assessed units with both practical and wider project-based assessment opportunities.

Units 1 and 2 are assessed via an online examination.

Additional Costs

You will have access to a range of equipment and resources at the college, which should be sufficient for you to complete your programme. However, it is possible you may incur additional costs for printing or course related excursions.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs grades A* - D with 2Cs, one being either English/Welsh (1st language) or Maths. Or successful completion of L1 Vocational qualification in relevant area at Merit or above.
